Education Program

A child who is illiterate is simply disconnected from the modern world. Aware of this reality, we have explored ways to welcome, educate, and integrate these forgotten children into society.

The Education Program is dedicated to providing schooling for street-involved youth as well as the children of former street children who have since started families but lack the means to support their children’s education. We offer them education as a tool that will serve them throughout their lives.

We carry out this mission in two ways:

  • Through literacy centers, including those at the headquarters and in Etoudi.
  • Through formal schooling, by enrolling eligible children and providing continuous support.
Our Mission
To ensure literacy, academic support, transportation, and nutrition for street youth, with personalized follow-up to promote educational success.

The Edimar Princesse Grace Centre is committed to awakening the deep thirst for truth in street-involved youth by offering them access to quality education. We organize literacy classes led by qualified teachers and enroll these children—often from street-based families—into recognized schools.

We provide the necessary school supplies and materials, as well as financial support for transportation and meals. For students facing academic difficulties, we offer remedial classes. A regular follow-up system is in place, involving collaboration between schools, families, and our specialized educators, to support each young person in their educational journey.

Our Method
Listening and a competency-based approach to understand each youth’s needs and talents, fostering their personal and academic growth.

Our pedagogical method is based on building genuine relationships and active listening, allowing us to understand the background, personality, needs, and talents of each young person. We believe this approach provides deep insight into their realities and aspirations.

We favour a competency-based learning model, aimed at developing both academic knowledge and practical, emotional skills. This method allows young people to progress at their own pace while equipping them with the tools they need to flourish both personally and academically.

Our Challenges
The major challenges are youth instability, varying education levels, substance use, and lack of family accountability.

The main difficulty lies in the instability of street youth within the educational setting. Other specific challenges include heterogeneous academic levels and substance abuse among students. In formal schooling, the biggest obstacles are the lack of family responsibility and the precarious financial situation of these families, which often prevents regular school attendance and success.

These challenges require tailored approaches and constant support to help youth overcome these barriers.

Our Results
In 2024, 120 youth enrolled with a 92.5% success rate, building self-confidence and opening new paths for their future.

Last year, we enrolled a total of 120 young people, across primary and secondary levels, in our educational program. Among them, 92.5% advanced to the next grade level, demonstrating the effectiveness of our educational approach. Additionally, 84.61% successfully passed their official exams, a result that reflects not only the commitment of the youth but also the continuous support we provide.

Beyond academic results, we have observed a significant increase in the self-confidence of these youth. This newfound confidence allows them to open up, believe in their potential, and envision a brighter, more fulfilling future—far from the hardships they once endured.
